Taking care of your mental health and wellbeing should always be top of your agenda, but sometimes it’s difficult to realise that you need support until you’re really feeling the pressure.

Mental Health Week happens each year and highlights the support that’s available all year round and the different ways you can look after your wellbeing.

This year the theme is movement.

Movement can increase your energy, reduce stress and anxiety and improve your self-confidence.

It doesn’t have to be an hour long run or a workout, a short 10 minute walk can boost your mood and improve your wellbeing.

The Mental Health Foundation has put together a series of tips to help you move more for your mental health. We’ve summarized them below but you can find out more here.

  1. Find moments for movement every day.
  2. Set small, achievable goals.
  3. Take a break from sitting.
  4. Find the fun.
  5. Move in nature.
  6. Try something new.
  7. Plan things to look forward to.
  8. Listen to the music that gets you moving.

Movement, meditation and exercises like yoga can also help you feel more relaxed especially after a stressful day.
