We’ve been working with Equans to find a solution to reduce maintenance costs and improve the appearance of homes in one of our neighbourhoods.

Some of our tenants told our Sustainable Communities Team that timber fascia, soffit and trellises in their area looked untidy. We passed this on to our Assets Team who take care of our homes and properties.

Working with Equans we replaced old, rotten timber with durable uPVC. Unlike wood, uPVC won’t rot over time, meaning fewer repairs in the future. It also helps keeps birds and pests out of homes. Because of the large roof spans, we also installed deep-flow guttering. This helps manage heavy rainfall and reduces the risk of overflowing.

As part of the work completed, all 16 Bungalows in the neighbourhood received

  • Replacement of old gutters and downpipes with new uPVC

  • Replacement of old timber fascias, soffits, apexes and porches

  • New uPVC paint for handrails and store cupboard doors

  • New outside lighting installed

Tenants have been very pleased with the works with one stating “I am pleased with the work that has been completed, it looks a lot cleaner.”

Another tenant said “It looks bright and welcoming when you come onto the close now. I can’t even remember the old blue wood.”

This work is part of our commitment to investing in our communities – making homes safer, smarter and easier to maintain.
