A range of affordable housing has been developed in Sturton by Stow in Lincolnshire.
Housing charity Acis Group has worked with development partner Gelder Group to bring the 14 new properties to the rural community.
The development at Queensway in the village features two one-bedroom bungalows, six two-bedroom bungalows and six three-bedroom houses.
Half will be available for affordable rent, while the other half will be available through Acis Group’s popular shared ownership scheme, which enables people to get a foot on the property ladder.
Greg Bacon, Chief Executive at Acis Group, said: “This new development is bringing much-needed affordable housing to the area. We’re delighted to have worked in partnership with Gelder Group to bring a previously disused area of land back to life and support the community to grow.”
Gelder Group is investing in local talent through its Apprenticeship scheme, giving young people in the area the opportunity to work on this and other new developments.
Steve Gelder, CEO of Gelder Group, said: “We took the opportunity on this project to really drive our apprentice recruitment and train a range of apprentices to construct the properties. Over ten apprentices were recruited during its 12 months duration and saw the group recruit bricklayers, plasterers, joiners and a plumber.”
The homes available for rent will be allocated through West Lindsey District Council’s Home Choices system. Those available for shared ownership will be listed on here when available.
