A Riverside Training manager and learner have been shortlisted for national employability awards.
Our Employability Manager Vicki Cross and learner Lisa Houchin have impressed judges to be on the shortlist for the 2022 ERSA Employability Awards, which recognise the sector’s hidden heroes.
Inspiring leader Vicki is up for the Frontline Manager of the Year award having made a difference to so many people’s lives across the region. Under her stewardship, Gainsborough-based Riverside Training has widened its service delivery to help people find, secure and stay in sustainable employment.
Vicki was instrumental in Riverside Training’s successful delivery of the Work and Health Programme, Kickstart Scheme and the Restart Scheme, supporting hundreds of people to enhance their careers.
Lisa is on the shortlist for the Significant Achievement of the Year award after overcoming confidence issues that led to her being at ‘rock bottom’.
Having not worked for more than ten years due to her Fibromyalgia, arthritis and lupus, Lisa is now on the road to a better life and a new career after undertaking a variety of courses, landing work experience opportunities and building up her confidence.
And having seen the impact a positive mindset can have on her, Lisa is now setting up a new peer-to-peer support group in Gainsborough to help other people in similar situations.
Richard Thorpe, Operations Manager at Riverside Training, said: “The ERSA Employability awards shine a light on the sector’s finest professionals and showcase the amazing work being done across the country. To have one of our wonderful team members up for an award, alongside one of our dedicated learners, is a fantastic achievement and we’re extremely proud of both of them.”
The winners will be announced on 30 November, the first day of ERSA’S annual conference in Birmingham.
Riverside Training also offers a wide range of courses, programmes and qualifications to help people realise their full potential. For more information, visit www.riverside-training.org.uk
