When deciding what to take to university with you, it can be easy to get carried away. Your room needs to feel like home, however you also need to be safe during your stay.
Below we’ve included a list of items that you can and can’t bring with you to the accommodation.
What to bring with you
You’ll need to remember all of the important, basic items such as:
- Bedding
- Towels
- First aid kit
- Utensils
- Laundry basket
- Plates and bowls
- Pots and pans
- Mugs and cups
- Hangers
- Cleaning products
- Toiletries
- Clothes, shoes, etc.
- Important documentation (ID, medical paperwork, etc.)
- Medication/prescriptions
If you forget any kitchen items then it’s not the end of the world, you can pop to the shops and grab what you’re missing. We also have UniKitOut who provide lots of kitchen, bedding and bathroom items, which can be delivered straight to the accommodation.
Medication, paperwork and ID are especially important to remember. If you need to register for a doctor or other practitioner during your time at University you'll need these.
What not to bring with you
There are a few items which we ask you not to bring with you for safety reasons. If you have any questions about any of these items, then you can contact our site teams who will be able to help.
It is also important to note that these items are listed in the accommodation contract as unsuitable items to bring to site with you. We would therefore ask that any items on this list be left at home during your stay with us.
- Candles
- Hot plates
- Deep fat fryers
- Shisha pipes
- Stereos
- Large speakers
- Mini fridges (unless for medical reasons)
- Weapons
- Portable heaters
If you have any questions about any of the above items, or you’re not sure whether to bring a specific item not listed above, then please contact the relevant site team and they will be happy to help you further.
