Exam season can bring a lot of stress and anxiety, so it’s important to make sure you’re taking care of yourself.
We’re here to share study support and to give you tips on how to unwind. We also want to remind you to eat regularly, drink lots of water and get a good nights’ sleep.
Sheffield Hallam University offers lots of resources to guide you through the exam season – including group sessions, wellbeing videos, and feedback seminars. You can access their study support here.
Places to study:
- University campus: You can book a study space on-site now.
- Common room: Did you know that you can book The Trigon’s common room for a group study session? Grab some friends and contact reception to book.
- Cafes: If you find it easier to focus surrounded by others, then why not try going for a coffee and getting your laptop out somewhere else? Waterstone Café in Orchard Square is a great space, and if you need to stock up on any books, you can get 5% off with a Waterstones plus card! Register with your student email now.
- Central Library, Surrey Street: Housing the city library service's single largest general lending and reference collection, as well as Graves Art Gallery, this is a great option if you need to borrow lots of books. And you can take a stroll around the Gallery to de-stress!
Ways to unwind:
- Exercise can help boost energy levels, clear the mind, and relieve stress. Why not try going for a walk, swimming at Ponds Forge, or even just dancing around your dorm with your friends?
- Make time for something fun: It’s important to take breaks whilst studying and give your brain a rest. Meet up with friends and family, go shopping or to the cinema. Just something fun to clear your mind. Revising 24/7 won’t help if you’re mentally drained!
- Mindfulness and meditation: Don’t knock it before you try it! You can find five-minute videos on YouTube or quick breathing exercises online to ground you and bring you back to the present. We know how easy it can be to fall down a spiral thinking about the future, so it can be a positive activity to bring yourself back to reality.
