Exam season can bring a lot of stress and anxiety, so it’s important to make sure you’re taking care of yourself.
We’re here to share study support and to give you tips on how to unwind. We also want to remind you to eat regularly, drink lots of water and get a good nights’ sleep.
The University of Nottingham offers lots of resources to help you through the exam season – including guidance and support with exams, extenuating circumstances, and outcomes and results. You can access their resources now.
The University also suggests using Togetherall - a safe and anonymous space for members to connect with people across the world who understand what it’s like to struggle with mental health. You can share thoughts and feelings, ask questions, and access support 365 days a year.
You can find other tips on the University’s mental health and wellbeing page, as well as contacts for local support available to you. Remember that The University Counselling Service is a free, confidential, bespoke service available to all students at the University of Nottingham.
Places to study:
- University campus: You can book a study space on-site now.
- Common room: Have you ever thought to use Raleigh Park’s common room for a group study session? Grab some friends and head over there!
- Cafes: If you find it easier to focus surrounded by others, then why not try going for a coffee and getting your laptop out somewhere else? There are several facilities on campus, or you can take a quick stroll to Costa, Trent Cafe or Coates Café.
- Library: Three of the University libraries will be open 24-hours during the spring term so there’s always somewhere safe and quiet for you to get your head down.
Ways to unwind:
- Exercise can help boost energy levels, clear the mind and relieve stress. Why not try going for a walk, swimming at the University pool, or even just dancing around your dorm with your friends?
- Make time for something fun: It’s important to take breaks whilst studying and give your brain a rest. Meet up with friends and family, go shopping or to the cinema. Just something fun to clear your mind. Revising 24/7 won’t help if you’re mentally drained!
- Mindfulness and meditation: Don’t knock it before you try it! You can find five-minute videos on YouTube or quick breathing exercises online to ground you and bring you back to the present. We know how easy it can be to fall down a spiral thinking about the future, so it can be a positive activity to bring yourself back to reality.
If you’re struggling and need to speak to someone, then please don’t be afraid to reach out. We have a friendly team who are always happy to help. You can also access direct support through the links below.
